LIVE AT CASINO REGINA (2011)

Thanks go out to Mark for sharing this uncirculated show with us. It's always a treat to come across a recording that we haven't had access to. This was recorded on an iphone and the sound quality is not great but considering the recording source and conditions, it's more than listenable. Sometimes, with an audience recording, you get what you get and with uncirculated shows, from where I stand, it's always a matter of archiving taking presedence over sound quality.  I'm going to attempt to enhance the sound on this one and if I get good results, I'll replace the link with the new version. As always, anyone out there who is good with sound enhancement, feel free to remaster any of the shows here and let's see what we end up with.

GRAHAM RUSSELL & ORIGINAL CAST - THE HEART OF THE ROSE: A ROCK OPERA

While this is not a bootleg recording, it is out of print and nearly impossible to find. If you're lucky enough to find a copy for sale, the seller will have set the price so high that it is robbery. This beautiful opera showcases Graham's extraordinary talent as a composer and should be archived. The music is epic and sweeping, as is the story....the love story of Robin Hood & Marian. I remember reading way back in the early 80s that Graham had been working on a rock opera called Sherwood. This is the result of that work, decades down the line, a vision realized.

RUSSELL HITCHCOCK - TAKE TIME (DEMO)

NOTE: This is not the officially released version of Russell's second solo album. If you do not own a copy of the official release, you are encouraged to support the artist and purchase the CD.

The story is that an ex-girlfriend of Russell's made this demo tape available for auction on ebay. Of course, from there it inevitably found its way into the hands of fans and collectors. When I received a copy and listened to it, it was like a gift. I loved the album, recorded in 1995 with Russell's voice at it's pinnacle, a great band and some great songs, and I wondered why it hadn't seen official release. To Russell's credit, he combatted the leak of this demo with an official, remastered and remixed release of the album. As I said above, if you don't have that official release, you should definitely buy it and support Russell's music. If you're a big enough fan that you're here for rare music, you'll love the album. These demos are posted here for their historical value and to give anyone who hasn't heard it the chance to listen to the album as it was originally produced back in `95. Enjoy.
